All glory to God!!! I had an amazing meeting with Dr. Millard today, and I’m thrilled to share that almost all the cancer cells are DEAD!!!!! Dr. Millard, JoAnn, and the entire team at the UVA Health Cancer Center are truly incredible. My next appointment is in three months, and I couldn’t be more excited!! The medication is working perfectly, and I’m responding so well. I’m diligently keeping up with my supplements, diet, and exercise. Most importantly, I know that God is orchestrating everything to bring healing to my body.
What’s the outlook? Assuming all the cells are dead by August, our focus will shift to keeping the “initial cell” as inactive as possible. This initial cell is the one that started everything, and we don’t know where it is or when it might cause trouble again. Because of this, I’ll be regularly monitored to tackle it as soon as it appears. My plan is to stay healthy and not see it for many years!
What’s next? The sun!!! Glen and I are heading to Hawaii next week with our good friends Brett and Angela Knobloch. After that, I’ll fly to Cincinnati. My mom broke her hip on Thursday evening. Despite her diligent exercises, osteoporosis got the better of her. She had surgery to insert a rod and pin and is now in a nice rehab facility. My son, Ben, took a week off to stay with my dad this week. A friend of my parents will be with my dad next week, and Kristen adjusted her schedule to cover the weekend and the start of the following week before I arrive after Hawaii. Once my mom is discharged from rehab, I’ll drive my parents to my home in Virginia. The retirement community where they are registered doesn’t have an opening yet, so they’ll stay at my home and a handicap-equipped hotel suite temporarily.
I firmly believe that God is in control! While I may never know why I have cancer, I prayed the day before my diagnosis to deepen my relationship with God. I’ve found a new confidence in His work and presence in this world! As Babbie Mason says, “God is too wise to be mistaken. God is too good to be unkind. So when you don’t understand, when you don’t see His plan, when you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart.”
Don’t expect any new posts until sometime in August. Have a wonderful summer!!
